Could you please give a reference as to where beef is forbidden in Hinduism.

Beef is forbidden in my version of Hinduism, which derives mainly from Vaishnava traditions. I don’t want to turn the pages of the Epics/Puranas just to find a reference; this viewpoint has become well-established through the guidance of devotional saints. If you do not agree with this, I would not like to impose my spiritual views on you.
